Ring in the New Year!

New Years Eve is so much fun! We love the idea - with kids or adults - to have a fun countdown surprise each hour leading up to the big midnight hour!

Put your notes in balloons and pop them to find what is inside - or have cute goodie bags filled with a fun activity or treat!

You can do whatever suits your family, but we like to start at about 5 and have the first activity be "Make/eat dinner" (chinese food, pizza, etc). Have the whole family help and enjoy a yummy dinner. Then make a few more to open every hour or so. We like to have one go for about 2 hours so we can watch a movie.

Put a game inside the goodie bag (UNO, Phase 10, etc) and play that until the next hour. Make your own confetti! Scrap paper, newspaper, old phone books, etc. Get hole punches and scissors and go to town! See how much you can make in an hour!Ingredients to make cookies or a treatA movie and popcornGo outside and have a snowball fight!Have a dance party - jump on the beds/couchesMake a craft (see…

Snow shooters

we found this cute idea on Growing A Jeweled Rose a perfect winter boredom buster!
To make snow shooters you will need: 2 white cupsblack and orange craft foam2 white or black balloonsScissorsGlue Making the snow shooters only took me a few minutes.  I began by cutting the bottom off of two white cups.  Then I took two white balloons and cut the tops off of those to create a larger opening.  This made it easy to stretch the balloons over the cup bottoms.  I layered the bottom rim of each cup with glue before pulling the balloons over the openings.  I used a glue stick, but hot glue would probably work even better.  Once the balloon pieces were secured I decorated the front of the cups to look like snowmen using craft foam
Once dry you can give kids cotton balls, white pom poms, or balled up paper to shoot at each other.  All they have to do is place the "snow" inside and gently pull back on the balloon

The snow will go flying!
We used cotton balls for our snow.  Rosie and Jewe…

Christmas Party game idea

Most of us either host or attend some sort of party this time of year. If you are in charge of games, look no further, we have some great ideas for you!
The reindeer game!

All you need is a few pair of large panty-hose and a bag of balloons (get those here!) Split into 2-3 teams. The goal is to blow as many balloons up as possible and fill the legs of the panty-hose, then put it on someones head to look like a reindeer! It is not as easy as it sounds! Super fun, lots of laughs guaranteed! Be sure to take lots of pictures!  PS: get large or XL panty-hose so they will fit over anyones head)

Another favorite of ours is the paper plate game.

All you need are sturdy paper plates (I got mine at Costco) and pens for each player. The host tells the players to put their paper plate on their head. Then the host will give a series of instructions for the players to draw on their paper plates (that are on their heads) without looking. Here are the instructions: 1. Draw a line for a floor.
2. Draw a Christ…

December Visiting and Home teaching gifts

The title of the official December's Visiting Teaching message from the Ensign is "The Divine Mission of Jesus Christ: Prince of Peace." We have included the full message from the Ensign, a 3"x4" print of Mary holding baby Jesus  (painting by Simon Dewey), and a Dove milk chocolate bar.

Wrapped in a chocolate brown gift sack, a tag with a graphic of a dove on it, and a tag that reads, "Celebrate the Prince of Peace this Christmas Season" - this gift will be just right for the sisters you visit teach.

The December Home Teaching message is entitled, "Fill the World with Christ's Love." In the message, President Uchtdorf tells a story about a family in need one Christmas. When asked what the children would like, the girls replied a stuffed animal or a doll, and the hungry little boy just wanted a bowl of oatmeal.  The message goes on to remind us that sometimes a humble gift or giving of our love is most important. We have wrapped up a caniste…
