August 2010 VT & HT Messages

Both the Visiting Teaching & the Home Teaching Messages this month are on temples.  We got our creative experts together and decided that we wanted to do something a little bit nicer for both messages this month... so here they are:

Visiting Teaching Message:
All wrapped up inside this beautiful floral print paper is the VT message along with a book mark that reads: "Always Temple Worthy" and a pretty little charm of the Salt Lake Temple.  A nice keepsake your sisters are sure to love!  {How easy would it be to add this charm to a necklace or a bracelet?}

For the HT message, we went along with the same keepsake thought and created a postcard magnet of the Salt Lake Temple.  The postcard magnet and message are all wrapped up in cellophane and tied off with a lavender bow and a gift tag.

Both of these messages are available in-store and online all month long.  Hurry, they are sure to go fast!
{Also available is just the temple postcard... be sure to check it out!}

Partying with Channel 2!

We want to give a BIG thank you shout out to Casey Scott and the team with Channel 2 News!  We had so much fun partying with them this morning!  For all of you late sleepers who missed todays morning show- check out Channel 2's website.  For the rest of you, here are a few behind-the-scene pics of all the fun we had.  Enjoy!
Our wonderful party gals got up extra early to be to work at 5:00 am!

Not to mention, we worked hard the night before to make sure everything was perfect!

Emily kicked it off with an intro of our store.  It was here, Casey was introduced to our original Birthday Bra!

Ali and Shantel played Marble Grab with Casey... Ali won!  She's a 12 marble wife!

Afterwards, Callee talked with Casey about some different gift ideas that we offer at our store.  (Did you know that you can come in our store and pick out a whole bunch of random products and we will put it all together for you to give as a gift?!)  We invited the Lehi Pioneer Cheerleaders to come and play Bottom-End-Blow-Out with Casey.  Although, none of them popped Casey's balloon... it was still a blast!

Next, we took Casey out for more games with our Lehi Pioneer Girls Soccer team.  Here's a picture of Casey playing Garden Hose Limbo.  Don't you just love those coconuts?!

After all the games were done, Cait taught Casey how to make a fish balloon.  For those of you who don't know, we have the best balloons in the state!  Here's small list of what we offer:
Fish, octopus, caterpillar, butterfly, dragonfly, Spider, 5-petal flower, luau flowers, topiaries & much more!

We ended the show with Emily shoving foam in Casey's face!  Our local Fire Department came to spread the word about Lehi's Annual Foam Day.  If you live in the area, we highly recommend heading down to the Sports Complex (2100 W 700 S in Lehi) for some foam fun!  It will be July 24, 2010 (tomorrow!) from 11am-4pm.  Foam will be from 2pm-4pm.

All in all, it was a pretty fabulous day with Casey, Channel 2 & the Party Gals at Pioneer Party.

YOU ARE INVITED...

To watch Channel 2 News this Friday morning from 6 am-8 am!  We know, it's early - but Casey Scott will be doing his MORNING SHOW right here at Pioneer Party!  We feel lucky :)

He is a little crazy and wild, so it should be lots of fun...tune in to see some inside views of our store and maybe learn a tip or two!

(remember the TIVO option if you are not an early morning riser!)

See you then!

Splish Splash Summer Bash

It just keeps getting hotter out there... so we wanted to help you all out by giving some fun ideas for a "Splish Splash Summer Bash" party.  First off, start it out with a splash by sending a wet invitation to your guests.

1.  Send us your party information, and we'll type it on the invitation.
2.  We laminate the invitation and send it to you.
3.  You roll up the invitation and put it inside a balloon and fill the balloons with water.
4.  Add the "splash" tag on the outside of the balloon
5.  Add your ribbon and then deliver!

This is a fun way to get your guests excited to attend the party.  Here is what it looks like:

To go along with the invitation, we also have a favor tag that you can attach to a treat, balloon, an otter-pop, whatever you choose!  Here is what the favor tag looks like (we put ours on suckers):

(If you would like to order customized invites and favors, please feel free to visit us in-store or call us!)

Now, on to the games!

1.  SPONGE TAG:  Get a big bucket of water, 2-3 sponges (the bigger the better), and lots of kids...hand over a sponge or two to a couple of the older kids to start out - and watch the kids run around!  Works better with multiple sponges so everyone gets wet and has a chance to be "it."

2. MARBLE GRAB:  Fill a kiddy pool with water and dump marbles in the bottom.  Each player stands in the pool and has to pick up marbles with his or her toes.  The person who picks up the most is the winner!

3.  BOTTOM-END-BLOW-OUT:  Tape a thumb tack to each players nose.  Then tape a balloon to each players bottom end.  The object of the game is to see who can pop the most balloons without letting their own balloon be popped!  This one is sure to be full of laughs!

4.  WET 'N WILD LIMBO:  Play limbo replacing a regular limbo stick with a water hose.

5.  BODY PAINT:  Make a variety of instant pudding the night before so that it can set.  Give each child (or adult) a paintbrush (fingers work as well) and let them paint designs on each other.  Give a prize to the most creative, messiest, best design, etc....

6.  MUSICAL TOWELS:  Exact same as musical chairs, but with towels outside. You don't even have to have the towels in a circle; just randomly place them in the yard!  That way guests are jumping and dashing around trying to land on a towel!

Last summer, we were featured on Studio 5 with some fun summer games and activities.  We'd thought we'd post it just to add some extra help.  Enjoy!

Pioneer Day Ideas...

The 24th of July marks the day that the Mormon Pioneers arrived in Utah...so if you live here, you will have another day to celebrate this month!  Here are some ideas to incorporate with your kids, neighborhood, or family:

EASY GAMES TO PLAY:

Three Legged Race
Button, button, where's the button?
Stick Pulling
Sack Race
Wheelbarrow Racing
Tug of War
Marbles
Horse Shoes

And a few more that need some explanation...

Shadow Tag This game needs to be played on a sunny day. The person who is it tries to step on another player's shadow. If their shadow is stepped on they have to stand still. The game continues until every person has been tagged. Then the first person tagged becomes it. If a player gets tired of running they can lay down. Then the player who is it can't tag them.

Ducks Fly This game is similar to Simon Says. One child is chosen to be the leader. The other players face the leader. The leader tells the other children what to do. Then they copy the actions and sounds that the leader makes. The leader will say "ducks fly" and flap his arms. The players also flap their arms. The leader continues with other actions like "cats meow", "dogs bark," etc. But the leader also tries to trick others by mixing up the animal and sounds. If he says "sheep oink" the players must remain quiet until the leader says it correctly. If a player oinks then they are out.
Poor Doggie (or Poor Kitty) The point of this game is to make a player smile. The player who is "it" is the doggie. They must try to make someone smile or laugh. The players sit in a circle and the "Doggie" goes to each player and barks, whines, and imitates a dog. The players have to pet "Doggie" and say "Poor Doggie, Poor Doggie, Poor Doggie!" The player must not smile while saying this or he/she will become the next Doggie. Players are allowed to laugh and smile when the "Doggie" is not visiting them.

Here are a few helpful links if you are wanting craft ideas:

If you ARE going to have a party, make sure everything is simple - use brown kraft postal paper to cover tables, use jute or string to tie silverware together at each place setting, and keep favors or decorations to a minimum!  A fun favor and treat is a good old fashioned candy stick.  We have several to choose from in store or online.  Just remember to keep it simple and focus on the activities - the way it would have been!  Good Luck and Happy Pioneer Day!
