S'more Pie Pops

Image
A s’more is a quintessential summer dessert. This pie pops recipe captures the goodness of s’mores in a flaky pie crust! (via The Gunny Sack)

With the arrival of warm weather, everyone wants to be outside. While I was driving around this weekend, I smelled so many bonfires. My nephew was super excited to report that they had their first campfire of the year. S’mores are the summer desserts that go hand in hand with fires. All summer long, we have graham crackers, marshmallows and chocolate bars on hand so that we are ready when the mood strikes. This S’more Pie Pops Recipe has a flaky pie crust instead of the graham crackers. I though about putting a graham cracker inside each pie on a stick but my kids didn’t want me to so I left them out.

Cut a 4.4 oz XL Hershey’s chocolate bar into segments.

Unroll a premade Pillsbury pie crust onto a lightly floured surface. Cut the pie crust circle into a rectangle and cut out six rectangles of dough using the Hershey’s bar pieces as a guide for the…

July Home and Visiting Teaching Gifts

Image
It's all about being patriotic with this month's visiting teaching gift. We've taken a bandana (red/blue assorted), and wrapped up the message from the Ensign, a package of Twizzlers, and a cute "10 Ways to Use a Bandana" handout!  Jute twine ties it all together with a tag that reads, "A Packet of Red, White, and Blue For You." You can always add a personalized note and tuck it in with the other handouts to personalize.

The home teaching message in July is entitled, "All is Well," and written by President Dieter F. Uchtdorf. We have created a 5"x7" print (that looks great in a frame for a July home decoration) that reads, "All is Well, All is Well" (quoting the popular Pioneer Song "Come, Come, Ye Saints" - Hymn no 30). The full message from the Ensign, as well as a gourmet package of nuts & chocolate is also included.

Summer Party & BBQ ideas!

Image
1. Create festive party lanterns for any season. Count the bulbs on a strand of holiday lights and cut X's into the bottoms of the same numer of small cups. Then push a bulb through each cup's center and hang the string from a doorway or window. (idea from Real Simple)

2. Grill smores on the BBQ! Get waffle ice cream cones, fill with marshmallows, chocolate chips, bananas, strawberries, or any other thing you can think of, wrap in aluminum foil, and throw on the grill for a few minutes to melt. YUM!! (credit)

3. Make a squirt gun station. It is HOT. And DRY. And if you have kids coming, you need this. Between the BBQ, tiki lamps, fireworks, and the blazing sun, the kiddos (and adults) are sure to get hot. Cool them down and let them have a ton of fun! Simply fill a bucket or cooler with water, grab a 10 pack of squirt guns at the dollar store, and let the good times happen! 4. Store your fruits/salads in a jar. You won't have to worry about bugs or …

DIY Bath Bombs - perfect for mom!

Image
We found the cutest easy idea for mom for mothers day! Who doesn't want to take a relaxing bath?! Head over to A Pumpkin and a Princess blog for the full tutorial.

from the blog:
This recipe is similar to the peppermint bath bombs I recently shared. For the lavender bath bombs I used the plastic ornament molds like last time. You can also use silicone molds like I did with the snowflake mold. Have fun and play around with different molds and sizes.  I’ve been a bath bomb making machine lately and I can’t wait to give these to friends and family this holiday season. I plan to individually wrap them in cellophane bags and personalized gift tags. Want to make your own bath bomb gifts this year? Here’s an easy recipe with Amazon affiliate links to the products I used. Supplies: 1 cup baking soda
1/2 cup Citric Acid
1/2 cup cornstarch
3 tablespoons epsom salt
2 teaspoons Sweet Almond Oil
3/4 teaspoon water
15 drops Lavender Oil
a few tablespoons of dried Organic Lavender Flowers
